My Story
So, who is Lady Wineland?
Firstly, I'm a bit of a rebel...
I dropped out of studying MB,ChB to follow my true passion and pursue a career in wine.
I completed my BSc degree in Viticulture & Oenology at Stellenbosch University but missed my graduation ceremony...
I was on a plane en route to Mendoza, Argentina.
For my FIRST international harvest experience!
After my time in Argentina, I explored wine regions all across the world working as a "Travelling Winemaker" in Napa, US; Marlborough, NZ; and Douro Valley, Portugal.
After completing a total of 8 harvests, I was curious to learn more about other facets of the wine industry!
I took on the role as Sommelier at the prestigious Singita - Kruger National Park. Awarded #1 Safari Lodge in Africa and #9 in the “Top 100 Hotels in the World" - Travel & Leisure, 2020. Here, I worked with one of South Africa's largest and most comprehensive wine collections. Creating memorable wine experiences for high-profile guests from all across the world. Daily adventures included: Catching snakes in the wine cellar and having a wine tasting interrupted by a herd of elephants...
After living in the African bush for almost 2 years, I moved back to my beloved, Cape Winelands.
In the years that followed I gained experience in wine marketing and sales. Representing several wine brands in Israel, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Maldives.
During the pandemic I was honoured to be the first official "employee" (working remotely) at FirstPour - one of the world's leading wine-specialist marketing agencies. I recruited and managed a team of 10+ and launched wine-focussed marketing campaigns for world-renowned brands including Bodegas Protos, California Wine Institute, Bread & Butter and many more. After working as Marketing and Communications manager for well over 2 years, I spread my wings to take on the role as Product Development & Export Manager at Robinson & Sinclair, representing exceptional wineries from all across South Africa.
